My Beautiful Bahrain

Life and living in the Kingdom of Bahrain

WRITTEN BY EXPATS, FOR EXPATS, AS A TRIBUTE TO THE WONDERFUL KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN.

 My

[mahy]

Pronoun - Possessive (a form of the possessive case of 'I' used as an attributive adjective)

 Beautiful

[byoo-tuh-fuhl]

Adjective - having beauty; having qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind.

 Bahrain

[bah-reyn, -rahyn, buh-]

Noun - a sheikdom in the Arabian Gulf, consisting of a group of islands.

"The beauty of Bahrain is both personal and individual. For me, one of the most fundamental aspects I really find beautiful about Bahrain is the respect most of the population shows to each other, and their kindness and compassion. This stands out above almost everything else, and can be perceptible compared to the way people treat and respect each other in the West. There is little vandalism, very little crime, the streets are clean, strangers smile and greet you every single day, people are helpful and polite - and without any hidden agenda - and you can feel safe and comfortable, without ever feeling threatened or intimidated. In the years I lived on the island, I never once witnessed any street-type aggression or even heard any raised, angry voices. Not once! In Bahrain you can live every day of your life with a certainty that you are unlikely to ever be the victim of any crime and this makes a huge difference to a person's quality of life. And I love this about Bahrain. Another thing I really think is beautiful about Bahrain is of course the weather. It is undoubtedly wonderful to live in a place where the sun shines every single day, without fail. Sun definitely makes people happier, friendlier and much more easy-going. But Bahrain's beauty is much deeper, hidden, and much more personal than this. There is just something about the island that enthrals, enchants and captivates you. Bahrain is addictive; the scenery, the community, the friendliness of the people, and of course the honest warmth, kindness and love everyone around you shows. In this way, and to many people, Bahrain is truly beautiful." Robin Barratt, writer, author, publisher. Editor My Beautiful Bahrain.
