  • About Gaye

Gaye was born in the UK, and started travelling at an early age. She lived and worked in Greece for 12 years and first came to Bahrain in 1983. Her affection for this beautiful country and its people has kept her here since then. She is now happily retired and spends her time in pursuit of her twin passions for travelling and photography.

Gaye has previously participated in exhibitions at Anamil Gallery, Al Riwaq Art Space, the InTouch Art Gallery, Art Divano gallery, and Art at the Harbour (at the Bahrain Financial Harbour). She has been published by National Geographic (“Playtime in a Disappearing World”, which highlights the rapid development of Bahrain, and the commentary that the simple world depicted in this photo is sadly disappearing). In addition, her work was five times been shortlisted for National Geographic online assignments. She has also been featured in several publications including Bahrain this Month, Time Out Bahrain, Fact magazine, Marhaba Traveller (for whom she has contributed several of their cover images), and local newspapers.

She was inspired first and foremost by the cultural heritage of Bahrain, and has a particular fondness for its beautiful traditional architecture, its vibrant culture and diverse population.

Gaye sells her work at the Bahrain National Museum gift shop, Made in Bahrain gift shops, from her home gallery on Amwaj Island, on Instagram and Facebook, and through selective participation in craft fairs and exhibitions.
